A SPECIAL PART OF MY LIFE

A special friend for me is Carol. She has been my best friend since I was 3 years old. She has a lot of qualities which I appreciate in a friend. First of all, she is very friendly, so whenever I need a person to talk, to help me or to do something, she is close to me. Second, she is a funny person. She lifts my mood, so when I am sad or stressed she makes me be happy. Finally, she is faithful. Because of this, I can trust in her whenever I need to. For me, this is the most important because all relations require confidence. With all those qualities, what more could anyone ask for in a friend?

My Favorite Song

My favorite song is “I Gotta Feeling” – Black Eyed Peas. Every time that I listen to this song I forget my problems and feel better. This song is very lively. The first time I listened this song was on the last New Year’s Eve. When I listen to this song I remember my family and my friends. I like the melody and the lyrics so much and I love to dance to this song too. Every day, before leave my house, I have to listen to this music, because I begin my day better.

Three Ways of Getting over a Broken Heart

There are several good ways of getting over a broken heart. The first way is to meet a new person. Some people say: “We only forgot one love with another love”. In fact, this is true, because when we meet a new person we begin to have different experiences, so it’s a good way to forget the old love. The second way is to spend time with friends and family. People usually get out and have fun with them. It is a good idea to remember we have more people to trust. The third way is to take your time. Some people need time to be alone, to think about their life and know what is better to do. People usually start to read a new book or take a trip. All three ways are very good and helpful. The idea is to know we have a lot of things to do without the old love.

Ways of Celebrating Birthdays

There are many ways to celebrate birthdays. The first way is organize a party. People use to invite family and friends to go to their house, so they have fun together. In this kind of party, people usually buy or make a cake with candles. It’s common the guests give a gift to the person whose birthday it is and bring some foods and drinks to the party. Then the most famous part of the birthday happen: sing the song “happy birthday”. The second way is to do something special. Some people take off a day from work, go to a nightclub or take a trip. In fact, people do many different things to make their birthday an interesting, special day. The third way is go to the church to pray. People use to thank God for one more year in life. All three ways of celebrating birthdays are special. It depends on what each one likes.

Adventure on the Sea

March 12, 2005 was the worst day of my life. It was the day when I and my parents started to make trip by ship. We planned to go to Rio de Janeiro from Fortaleza to spend a good time and relaxing, but we found a dangerous situation. When we rode the ship, everybody was happy and excited in the first hours, but after that, we heard an announcement from the ship’s captain. He said “Dear passengers, we have to prepare for strong tidal waves coming from the north, so everyone has to wear the buoys to save lives, and have a seat please”.
Then the horror appeared on everyone’s face. I cried hard and my parents tried to make me comfortable. They said, “All things will go well,” but I didn’t believe them because the ship was going to fall down; however, fortunately we were close to the nearest Beach called Fernando de Noronha. Finally, “thank God” we were found by the coast guard. It was the last ship I have traveled on it. From now on, I’m sure I will not ride on any ship after that.

Exciting Day

Dear Mary,

You won’t believe what happened yesterday. I went with my grandmother to the bank. I had a balloon on a string. My grandmother had a handbag and an umbrella on her arm. It was an ordinary day at the First National Bank. When my grand had to make a deposit and cash a check, I was looking around. Then, one suspicious looking man entered in the bank. He was wearing a hat, and had a bad expression in his face. He looked angry and nervous. He slowly walked to a window and suddenly pulled out a gun. The man gave the teller a note and demanded two bags of money from her. I did not believe what was happening. I was scared, but my grandmother was very angry with the robber. When he started to run away, my grand quickly started to run after him. She hit him hard with her umbrella, so she stopped him. I was very excited. My grandmother was very courageous. Then a policeman immediately arrived and took the robber away. A crowd was in front of the bank, so they watched. The bank manager was very thankful to my grandmother, so he gave a reward to her. She looked very happy. Then the bank manager gave me seven balloons. I was very happy too. It was an exciting day. In the end, everyone was happy except the robber.

A SPECIAL PART OF MY LIFE

My best friend’s name is Carol. She is 22 years old, like me. I met her when I was 2 years old. We lived in the same building. When we were children, we started all of our classes together: school, ballet class, swimming class and piano class. All the time we were together, so we were telling people that we were sisters.
Carol is like me. She likes the same things I like. Sometimes we argue, but after ten minutes we are friends again. She is very important for me because she is part of my past, my present and my future. We had a lot of experience together, and we always help each other.
We completed high school together, and after I graduated in Advertising and she graduated in Pharmacy. Now we are far away from each other. She stays in my country, Brazil, and I am here in Atlanta, but we talk every day on the phone, on Skype and send email with news.
I wish we will be best friends forever. It’s very difficult to have a person who you can trust, and I have Carol, who I can trust whenever I need. It is in these things she is very important to me.
